Spring Sonnet 2.0

Piece by piece the season begins to shift
Blossoms appear upon a lonely tree
Days begin to stretch upon nights so swift
Sunlight lingers on everything I see

I start remembering the feel of heat
That leaves the icy cold wind in its wake
And with each new day in a sunlit street
We shed layers like the skin of a snake

I'm longing for the lengthening of days
The embracing sky of powdery blue
Bare branches once again hidden from gaze
And upon the ground is nothing but dew

As each new day begins springing alive
All around greens of nature once more thrive
