Walk the line

Walk the line

Between truth and tale
Where the line in the sand
Was washed away
By the ocean of stories told
To help the naïve sleep:
Their dreams filled
With the belief and justification
That any action is acceptable
If you are beyond
Seeing the stains
Upon your hands.

Yet the stains they do see
Are the ones
They paint upon another
And then blame them
For not allowing others
To sleep through life.

Wake up,
Do not justify a closed mind
And act surprised:
It is only your ignorance
Of why
That explains away
The reason
A nightmare was placed
Upon your door.
So many innocents die,
Yet whose life
Is given more worth?

Glimpsed

With the passing day
The light’s shadow peeks inside
Glimpsed through window panes

Enduring

As the darkness swells all the stars awaken
My fingers stretch towards the day's fading light.
My naked arms, lingering forsaken,
Bare to the growing chill of the night

I dwell amid those I have always known
In an ages-long cycle that comes and goes.
Feeling time pass, I stand still as a stone:
While around my feet the tide of life flows.

Again I have weathered coldness and strife.
Now I stand at the far edge of the dark,
I feel myself spiralling closer to life
As the light composes a longer arc.

Once more my skin sheltered from prying eyes
And my guise swaying amongst paradise.
