The silken shawl of snow
Shimmers and burrows
Seeping into the curves
As light caresses you
Threads weep slowly
Then cascades into
Streams of glistening white
What inspires one to write? For me it is an irresistible urge to assemble words together that results in the creation of imagery that I experience when I look at the world around me. I can not remember a time that I was not writing, especially poetry. To write a poem is to use the fewest words to create a glimpse into a new world or perspective. By Allison Brown

Supple snow

Talking about...
Talking across
A point
Circular and spiralling
Missing what is hidden
In the words
Reaching an agreement
Via misunderstanding
Nothing heard
A lot said

Upon a road
The soft touch of the breeze
Swirls under the blue
A mesh of white drifts
Upon the edges
As day fades
Flecks of light appear

Seeing shadows
Looking at the world
Through eyes seeing
Shades -
Shadow or light
Mingling
Twining
Detaching
Merging
Dancing across my eyes

Pause
I take a pause
Contemplating
Over thinking
Dwelling
- Pause -
Change direction
- Well try to -
I take a moment
Shake my head
Sip my drink
Look out
Watch the world
The weather
Changing

This night
Smooth satin sound
Slipping and swirling
Into my thoughts
Forgetting to breath
I drift then soar
Upon notes
That linger

Six words
Smooth
Varied
Emotional
Remembered

Strength
Amongst ebbs and flows
A comforting light exists
Warming with its touch
