What inspires one to write? For me it is an irresistible urge to assemble words together that results in the creation of imagery that I experience when I look at the world around me. I can not remember a time that I was not writing, especially poetry. To write a poem is to use the fewest words to create a glimpse into a new world or perspective. By Allison Brown

Greeting
Hello!
You're home
I've been waiting
You open your mouth to speak,
Which turns into a wide yawn
Then you stretch into an arch
Hello!
You're home
I’ve been waiting
While waiting and listening out
You're eyes drifted closed
And you curled up to sleep
I just dozed
For a little while
Until you came home
You were listening out
For the sound of footsteps
For the keys rattling
Welcome home!
You greet me
Rolling over at my feet
Fur rubbing across the carpet
