Velvet green
Into a cotton shawl
Air drifts through
Over, within
Radiating across
Blinding light
A fragile net floating
A shifting pattern
Merges and shapes
Velvet, cotton and light
Becomes a tapestry
Shielding all
What inspires one to write? For me it is an irresistible urge to assemble words together that results in the creation of imagery that I experience when I look at the world around me. I can not remember a time that I was not writing, especially poetry. To write a poem is to use the fewest words to create a glimpse into a new world or perspective. By Allison Brown

Linger
With a passing touch
Soft and fragile
Your scent remains
You linger
Not upon the branch -
Persisting in my memory
Comforting when change comes
For things return - Altered
Yet always connected
Soft and fragile
Your scent remains
You linger
Not upon the branch -
Persisting in my memory
Comforting when change comes
For things return - Altered
Yet always connected

Poppy...
If I could write your story
From then to now
What stories I could tell
A tall tale, legend, myth?
From one story, one view
A life derived from strength
That carries those
Who are part of you
Of character that supports
Teaches and believes
One life that is boundless
A greater story than I could conceive.
From then to now
What stories I could tell
A tall tale, legend, myth?
From one story, one view
A life derived from strength
That carries those
Who are part of you
Of character that supports
Teaches and believes
One life that is boundless
A greater story than I could conceive.
